Fedegari Autoclavi S.p.A. specializes in the design and production of sterilization systems and plants for industrial processes, primarily serving the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, food, and cosmetics sectors. The company focuses on autoclaves and contamination control solutions.

The problem

Currently, there are no systematic studies or guidelines that correlate the surface properties of materials used for primary drug packaging with the processes of washing, depyrogenation, and sterilization, in relation to specific pharmaceutical formulations. To date, knowledge in this area is empirical and heavily dependent on the experience of the stakeholders involved in process definition. The goal of this work is to develop a Knowledge Management platform based on artificial intelligence that can predict the behavior of packaging when subjected to typical aseptic or sterile production processes.

The solution

 The project involves a phase of data collection and characterization, management, and result analysis with the creation of a database, along with the adoption of Artificial Intelligence methodologies. Specifically, it focuses on the study and development of models and algorithms to support Knowledge Management in managing the interaction between medical packaging materials, the treatments applied to them, and the pharmaceutical product.
